UPDATED STORY:
At 11:11 a.m., President David Anderson alerted the college that an armed robbery suspect at large in Northfield had been apprehended by police.
Earlier this morning, after robbing a hotel south of Highway 19, an armed male suspect was thought to be hiding somewhere in Northfield or Dundas after fleeing the scene on foot.
Anderson first emailed the college just before 10 a.m., urging the St. Olaf community to be on “heightened alert.”
Multiple police forces responded, bringing in at least one helicopter and canine unit to search the area, according to the Dean of Students’ Office.
“Be aware of your surroundings,” Anderson wrote. “Avoid being off-campus.”
