Underneath, we still feel the pain
It’s like fire chewing on wood
Yet each morning we hide the flames
Acting unlike what we should
My home has been destroyed,
My priorities have been changed
My strength has been weakened
My worthiness has been exchanged
Still each morning we smile again
Disregarding all the pain
Because although my home is not a game
And my life is not a shame
I believe we all deserve peace
And this struggle needs to cease
I believe this is not the end
There’s no room to pretend
And there’s a need to defend
Ourselves, each other and humanity
protect our remaining sanity
